CUPPING THERAPY

Cupping has been popular in Egyptian, Chinese and Middle Eastern cultures going back thousands of years, but increasing number of people worldwide have been adopting it.  Body cupping and Facial cupping are both based on similar principles.  However, the method by which they are performed and their uses are highly different.

Facial cupping helps rejuventate the skin, and the cups are suited for the delicate skin, whereas body cupping uses sturdier cups, often made of bamboo, glass or earthenware and are used to relieve pain.

Facial cupping is meant to increase blood circulation and stimulate the facial cells that are responsible for collage production, In turn, this can brighten your skin, minimize the appearance of scars, fine lines and wrinkles, and tone your chin, jawline and neck by decreasing puffiness.

Cupping promotes healing and can be used for back, neck and knee pain.  Suction from cupping draws fluid into the treated area. This suction force expands and breaks open tiny blood vessels (capillaries) under the skin. Your body treats the cupping area like an injury.  It sends more blood that is loaded with oxygen and nutrients to the area to stimulate the natural healing process.

GUA SHA

Gua Sha is a traditional Eastern asian practice that translates in english to “scraping the pain away”.  This practice has been adapted from a full body vigorously detoxifying treatment to a beautifying relaxing ritual for the face, neck and decolletage.  Healing crystal stones are gently stroked across the skin to encourage lymphatic flow, increase circulation, and smooth + lift the skin.

Gua Sha increases circulation and improves lymphatic function, resulting in a naturally dewy, glowing complexion.  The action of gently scraping the Gua Sha tool across the skin aids in serum/moisturizer product penetration, so those juicy phytonutrients go deeper into the layers of skin to feed us even more hydration. Gua Sha helps stimulate circulation, the technique itself oxygenates and carries nutrients to the skin cells. The increased blood flow resulting from Gua Sha contributes to a more lively, plumped up and youthful appearance.

REIKI

Reiki is an ancient yet simple healing technique. It has been found to produce profound results all through gentle touch, positive mindsets, and energy transfer. Whether you want to receive Reiki for emotional trauma healing, energy level balancing, or to develop yourself spiritually, Reiki has endless advantages.

Benefits of Reiki Healing that may interest you.

1. Promote Harmony & Balance
Reiki takes a non-invasive approach to energy transfer that is extremely effective in promoting overall wellness. Through the energy transfer, the body is able to restore balance across all systems of the mind, body, and spirit. This creates harmony and allows people to continue in a positive lifestyle.

2. Relaxes and Releases Tension From The Body
What many people love the most about Reiki is that it allows them to simply “be”. It is a couple of minutes of pure relaxation where the receiver can clear their heads and release the tension and stress of their day. The energy transfer through Reiki may make people feel peaceful, relaxed, and lighter which allows then to be in touch with their inner selves and reflect clearly on their lives.

3. Breaks Down Energy Blocks and Balances The Mind, Body, and Spirit
Regular Reiki treatment promotes the consistent and unlocked flow of energy throughout the body. This allows people to feel less stress, enhances learning and memory, promotes mental clarity, and physical healing/ less physical pain. When energy passageways are blocked, positive energy cannot flow to certain parts of the body, which results in mood swings, fear, anger, pain, and more. Reiki can help keep these passages clear.

4. Cleanses Body of Toxins and Supports Immune System
Reiki technique is used to remind our bodies how to go back into the “repair” or “self-healing” state of rest and digest. By triggering this state, our bodies begin to cleanse themselves of useless energies. It also allows the body to protect itself from exhaustion, burnout, or immune system failure.

5. Clears The Mind and Improves Focus
Reiki reminds receivers to be in the present moment. The positive energy transfer allows the mind to focus on current events, not hold onto past mistakes, and not fret on anxieties about the future. This will help with accepting how life is unfolding and will help promote positive reactions to situations, people, and circumstances.

6. Helps You Sleep Better
You can always expect to feel extremely relaxed after a Reiki session. This kind of relaxation helps our bodies to sleep better, to heal better, and to think more clearly. It is not uncommon for people to fall asleep entirely during a Reiki Session.

7. Helps Spiritual Growth and Emotional Cleansing
Reiki addresses the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—not just the physical being. This means that the positive energy transfer through Reiki is extremely helpful in elevating the receiver’s mood and general attitude towards life. The healing that starts from within will reflect on their decisions and perspective on the outside.

8. Accelerates The Body’s Self-Healing Ability
Reiki balances your internal body levels to return to a near-natural state. This means that your breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, circulation, and other bodily systems will improve. This normal balance will allow your body to heal itself from within.

There are many ways that an individual can benefit from Reiki. It is important to note that Reiki does not target one particular problem within the body but rather targets everything at once. Energy transfer is the most powerful tool in healing in this way as it heals all related elements of a particular condition.

TUI NA

Tui Na can be used to clear blockages in meridian channels, which connect our organs together and transport both blood and chi (life force).  Our channels need to be clear in order to work harmoniously and for chi to flow well throughout the body.  If an organ is not functioning properly, the channel could be blocked - and vice versa.  Tui Na imparts a truly holistic effect on the body. This manual movement stimulates our lymphatic system, helping our organs function optimally by breaking up stagnation, flowing debris and toxins within the body for easier expulsion.

WOOD THERAPY

Wood Therapy, also known as "Maderoterapia" is a non invasive deep tissue manipulation technique that employs sculpted wooden implements to rid the body of unwanted bulges of fat, and diminish cellulite while sculpting and toning the body. Each wood tool has a specific use for a particular area of the body. Wood therapy is very effective in activating the lymphatic system and ideal for treatment areas such as for legs, abdomen and booty lifting.

The advantages of deep massage using wooden implements that conform to natural body contours are many. These instruments allow more targeted pressure to be applied, and that pressure intensifies the breakdown of fat and fibrous cellulite so that it can be eliminated naturally with other toxins.

This slimming and shaping treatment is recommended to tone and tighten the skin, break down cellulite, burn fat and reduce circumference.

BODYWORK THERAPY

A full-body massage: soft music, low lighting, a feeling of tranquility—it’s bliss. But what most people don’t know is that while you might be in a state of total relaxation your body is going into full activation mode during a massage. Bodywork stimulates your nervous system; wakes up your muscles, organs, and glands; moves blood and lymph fluid, and gets multitudes of cells to produce and release chemicals and hormones.

What are some of the lesser-known benefits of receiving a massage?

1. Skin Refresh
The slight friction of your massage therapist’s hands along with the massage lotion and oil causes gentle exfoliation, allowing fresh skin cells to emerge.

2. Nervous System Relaxation
As you relax, your nervous system enters a “rest and digest” mode. If you have areas of pain and tension in your body, it’s possible that they are the result of pressure on nerves caused by tight muscles, and massage may relieve it. A relaxed nervous system means that hormone production will balance out. Production of stress hormones such as corticosteroids (LDL) decreases, as “feel good” hormones like endorphins increase. Hormones that regulate sleep/wake cycles, menstrual cycles, immune cells, blood sugar, and even how much food you eat, all react positively to the relaxation that accompanies a full-body massage.

3. Musculoskeletal Benefits
Your muscles are like sponges – when they contract, blood and lymph fluid are squeezed out, and when they relax fresh blood enters bringing fresh nutrition, oxygen, and immune cells.

4. Lymphatic Detox
The lymphatic system is crucial to balance the fluid and the function of your immune system. Lymphatic vessels parallel blood vessels throughout your body and large groups of lymph nodes are found in the neck, armpits, and groin. As your therapist works on flushing blood through muscle and tissue, they are also draining the lymphatic system, where the lymph nodes filter out dead cells, waste products, and possible pathogens. Sluggish lymph flow contributes to fluid retention, and draining the lymphatic system may reduce edema in certain parts of the body.

5. Improved Bone Blood Supply
Did you know your bones also have a blood supply and receive the same advantages from massage as your muscles? Blood flow brings calcium and other minerals to your bones to support their strength and function, so your skeletal system receives a major boost from massage.

6. A Healthy Heart
The vasodilation produced by massage increases your venous return which, in turn, increases blood flow and delivery of oxygen to all your organs. Your entire cardiovascular system relaxes and circulation throughout your body improves. Activation of the parasympathetic nervous system’s “rest and digest” mode helps regulate blood pressure and heart rate.

7. Digestive Wellbeing
Stress takes a toll on the digestive system, and a full-body massage can have a very healthy effect on how your body process food and nutrients. The parasympathetic nervous system regulates your digestion, producing needed chemicals (like saliva, gastric juice, and insulin) and stimulates peristalsis, which moves food through your intestines.

8. Improved Breathing
Unrestricted breathing is one of the fastest roads to stress reduction, and your first breath on the massage table may become a sigh of relief. In addition to the diaphragm, there are muscles in your ribs, chest, and neck that assist breathing. Since so much tension accumulates in shoulder, chest, and neck muscles, it’s no wonder that our breathing becomes restricted when we’re stressed.

Benefits of a Geriatric Massage

There are many reasons geriatric massage may be beneficial for you or a loved one.  Many older adults lack positive physical contact with others on a regular basis. As a massage therapist we can fulfill this need for you or a loved one with the touch a massage provides.

A geriatric massage technique employs light, gentle massage and passive stretching to ease muscle tension without excessive friction on the skin. Geriatric massage benefits those who are less physically active by helping to promote circulation and can help to improve posture and provide an overall sense of well-being.

Other overall benefits to geriatric massage can include:

  • stress reduction

  • improved mental outlook

  • pain management

  • increased blood circulation

  • better sleep
